Kim Whalen

Kim Whalen has her BFA in Theatre Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington and starred as Luisa in The Fantasticks on Broadway. She is an actress of both stage and screen and trained classically in opera, musical theatre and in many vocal styles. She has played the leading roles in regional equity productions of Cinderella, My Fair Lady, Carousel, West Side Story, Oklahoma, The Light in the Piazza, Grey Gardens, Master Class, The Last Five Years and Rocky Horror to name a few. She has also worked extensively in both film and television. Some television credits include, Austin & Ally (Disney), S.W.A.T (CBS), Being Mary Jane (BET), Code Black (CBS), CSI: Cyber(CBS), It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (FX), Intelligence (CBS), Body of Proof (ABC), and Perception (TNT). Film credits include Dakota Summer (20th Century Fox), Terrance Malick’s, The Tree of Life (Fox Searchlight), Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret (Lifetime) and the music based indie feature, A Winter Rose as the title character. She loves teaching and believes theatre should be a requirement in all schools, as it encourages listening, kindness, sympathy, and focus. All building blocks of an incredible human being and actor. She encourages learning through failure and helps build confidence. She requires an encouraging judgment-free class from her students so they all have a safe place to learn and grow.
